Ellington and Somers Take Hefty State Aid Cuts In Malloy Plan

Ellington's 2019 fiscal year state grant would be slashed 11 percent under plan; Somers would take an 8 percent hit.

The bad news keeps coming for Connecticut municipalities as the state attempts to claw out from under its budget mess.

Under Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's revised, proposed adjustments to the fiscal year 2019 budget previously adopted by the legislature state municipal aid would be cut nearly $100 million - both in the education and non-education side.

For Ellington it would be a 11 percent cut from the previously approved $10.4 million total - to $9.2 million; for Somers it would be an 8 percent reduction, from $8.82 million to $8 million.
