Ellington, Somers Teams Headed to Lacrosse Tournaments

ELLINGTON-SOMERS, CT — The boys lacrosse team from Somers High School is looking for the magical "three-peat," while the Spartan girls and Ellington boys seek to carve their niche as opening round play has been scheduled in the CIAC lacrosse tournaments.

In a quest for a third straight Class S title, and sixth championship overall, Somers opens the boys tournament as the No. 2 seed, and will entertain No. 15 Stonington Wednesday. Ellington's boys, meanwhile, are seeded 11th in Class M, and will host a qualifying match Friday against No. 22 Watertown.

On the girls' side, No. 15 Somers travels to No. 2 Canton Tuesday in a Class S first-round match.

Darien is the top Class L seed in both the girls and boys divisions. New Fairfield (M) and St. Paul (S) are seeded first in the boys divisions, while Daniel Hand (M) and North Branford (S) hold the top spots for the girls.
