Ellington Town Solar Program Offers 0.99% Solar Loan

The Town of Ellington’s solar campaign is getting a surge of interest from residents thanks to the new 0.99% Smart-E loan through the CT Green Bank. The low-interest loan helps residents go solar at a discounted rate through Solarize Ellington when they combine their solar improvement with an efficiency project. Even if the efficiency project was done within the last 5 years, residents may still qualify for the 0.99% Smart-E loan.

Since the Town launched the Solarize Ellington campaign in April, close to 100 Ellington residents have expressed interest in having their home evaluated for solar and 16 families are taking advantage of the program’s discounted pricing and moving forward with their solar project.

“Like many homeowners, some of the things we are most concerned about in our daily life are saving money and the environment,” said Ellington solar owners Jeff and Kelly Moore. “The most important thing people don’t realize is that you can go solar and start seeing savings right away. We have, in not quite 2 years, saved almost $1,500 overall by reducing our electrical costs. We were very happily surprised that we were such good candidates and are incredibly proud of what we have been able to do to help the environment.”

A community solar workshop will be held on July 20th at the Hall Memorial Library at 6:30 pm at 93 Main St in Ellington. Residents can find out about the latest solar technology, learn about the low-interest financing options including the 0.99% loan, meet their solar installer and have a chance to learn if their house is good for solar. Interested Ellington residents must sign a contract by August 31st, 2017 to qualify for Solarize Ellington pricing.
