Ellington Woman's Cause of Death Revealed: Report

The woman, 39, was found dead inside her house last Wednesday.

UPDATE: The Office of the State Medical Examiner has concluded that Connie Dabate’s death was the result of gunshot wounds to her head and abdomen, Fox 61 reports.

Connie Dabate, 39, of Ellington’s death has been ruled a homicide. State Police are investigating and no suspects have yet officially been named.

Original story: An Ellington woman was found dead inside her Birch View Drive home Wednesday morning, and her husband was taken to Hartford Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, state police said.

Police were dispatched to the home at 7 Birch View Drive at 10:16 a.m. due to receipt of an alarm, and found the homeowner, Richard Dabate, Jr., 39, had sustained injuries warranting transport to the hospital.

Dabate’s wife, Connie, also 39, was then located within the house. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The chief medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, police said.

Eastern District Major Crime detectives remained on the scene throughout the night as the investigation continues.

Property records show the Dabates bought the 2,800 square foot home in 2006. It is located on a cul-de-sac in the north end of Ellington, just over the Somers town line.
