Ellington's Caitlin Oswald Named One of the 100 Most Creative People by Fast Company

Caitlin Oswald, Additive Manufacturing Project Manager for Pratt & Whitney, has been selected as one of the 100 Most Creative People in Business for 2015 by the editors of Fast Company magazine.

Oswald is project supervisor within the Additive Manufacturing group at Pratt & Whitney, a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines and auxiliary power units. Oswald is responsible for managing a group of engineers who are designing next generation parts using the additive manufacturing technologies. In addition, her team supports community-wide initiatives to utilize additive manufactured parts for fixtures and prototyping, rigs and development engines and transition to production efforts.

Oswald also manages the Electron Beam Melting (EBM) technology. In this role, she is responsible for the technology and manufacturing readiness progression several EBM material systems. She oversees validation plans and material requirements, process capability evaluation and the transition to production activities. This cross-functional team includes design, materials, structures and manufacturing engineers along with engagement with the hardware owners in Cold and Hot Section Engineering. 

Oswald holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, both from the University of Connecticut. She is a resident of Ellington.

According to Fast Company, “this year’s list of 100 Most Creative People spans entertainers to scientists, fashion designers to app developers, architects to academics. It includes individuals from Nike, Evernote, IBM, Intel, Pepsico, and more, from China to India, Colombia, and Iran.”

As part of this elite list of 100, Oswald joins the ranks of Fast Company’s Most Creative People 1000 — its community of the world’s most innovative and intriguing individuals.

Fast Company magazine has been published since 1995, when it was created to reflect the new, more entrepreneurial business era coming out of Silicon Valley and the dot-coms. It has evolved to become the media voice for innovation in business, and specifically in design innovation.
