Employee Arrested After Theft from Somers Business

The complaint was made in October and an arrest was recently made.

On Oct. 2, 2014, a complaint was made to Troop C in Tolland that there had been a theft of funds from a business in Somers by an employee.

A criminal investigation was initiated upon the complaint by the business owner and was assigned to detectives in the Eastern District Major Crimes Squad.

On May 13, detectives arrested Elizabeth West, 65, and charged with her with first-degree larceny.

She was released on a $25,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Rockville Superior Court on May 26.

The Journal Inquirer is reporting that West used to work at Room to Grow Childcare but resigned after a complaint was made that she was stealing $10,000 to $15,000 annually over the course of several years.

The paper is reporting that West said she took the money to pay off debts for her drug-addicted sons.
