Piedmont Percolator, the coffeehouse that has put Somers on the map as a folk music destination, is closing its 2011-12 season in grand style!
The final spring performance on April 15 features two artists known throughout Canada and the U.S. who complement each other’s style and bring a dynamic musical statement to the Piedmont Hall stage that is sure to please audiences of all ages.

Layah Jane hails from Canada, where she has won numerous national awards highlighting her songwriting ability and vocal acuity. Layah began her career writing songs in her teens and has performed on stages throughout North America. Having just released her 5th CD, “Honey,” Layah demonstrates a passionate expression of emotion through her song and stage presence. She will be joined in Somers by Oliver Johnson, her longtime guitar accompanist and producer whose skill on the instrument matches her talents and contributes to an unbeatable variation of sound.

Also performing Sunday evening will be Glen Roethal, joined by members of his trio “Gathering Time.” Glenn continuously delights audiences with his guitar wizardry, vocal proficiency and varied vocal melodic tones - audiences have been known to jump in and sing or clap-along to his uplifting beat. Gathering Time has released two singles and a full length CD (“Songs of Hope and Freedom”) whose piece “Red Apples and Gold” has already climbed to #7 on the folk radio music charts. In addition to numerous other national achievements, Glen is a teacher at Summersongs.com, a performance and songwriting camp held on the US east and west coasts throughout the year. Aspiring performers of all ages might want to acquaint themselves with his talent.
The coffeehouse is held at Piedmont Hall, 604 Main St., Somers. Admission and coffee are free.
