Experienced Professional Named New Ellington Director Of Public Works
Tom Modzelewski has been a valued member of the public works department since 2018.

ELLINGTON, CT — Acting public works director Tom Modzelewski has been promoted to director, effective July 10, according to an announcement from the Ellington first selectman's office.
Modzelewski, who also adds Water Pollution Control Authority administrator to his title, had been the acting director of the department since May.
He is an experienced professional who joined the public works team as a foreman in 2018, and was promoted to superintendent of operations in 2022. He was recently recognized for Outstanding Achievement in Public Works by the New England Chapter of the American Public Works Association.

"I am very fortunate to work with an amazing team of people," Modzelewski said, "and I'm excited to see what we can accomplish together."
First Selectman Lori Spielman said, "I’m excited to see the direction that Tom is going to take the department moving forward. In his time here and within his various roles, he has shown incredible growth in a short period of time, and he has proven himself to be a reliable, hardworking member of the team."
