Final 4 Spots In Travelers Championship Earned At Ellington Ridge
Four players shot 5-under par 67 or better to clinch spots in this week's PGA Tour stop at the Travelers Championship.

ELLINGTON, CT — Patrick Flavin proved two things in Monday's qualifier for the Travelers Championship at Ellington Ridge Country Club: it's not necessarily the biggest player who experiences success, and you can be last and still finish first.
Flavin, a 26-year-old from Highwood, Illinois who plays on the PGA second-tier Korn Ferry Tour, is just 5-foot-8 and weighs 150 pounds, but he was a giant Monday in the field of 67 golfers. He teed off in the last group of the day, and immediately made noise with birdies on holes 2, 3 and 4. An eagle on 11 and birdies on 16 and 17 moved him to 7-under par for the day and a 2-stroke advantage, and a bogey at 18 meant he wound up as medalist with a 6-under 66.
He will be among 156 players this week at the PGA Tour's Travelers Championship, shooting for a first prize of $1.494 million and a total purse of $8.3 million. He will be joined by three players who all shot 5-under par 67 Monday: former PGA Tour pros Ben Silverman and Conrad Shindler, and current PGA Tour member Bo Hoag.
