Finance Director Decides Against Ellington Appointment

ELLINGTON, CT — The new finance director hired by by the Elllington Board of Selectmen this month has backed out, town officials said Thursday.

Daniel Colton's hiring was made official at the May 15 board meeting and was to be effective on June 10.

In a one-sentence e-mail sent Thursday afternoon, Ellington officials said, "We just received word from Mr. Colton that he is rescinding his acceptance of the position here in Ellington."

Colton has three decades of experience in accounting and financial services. He is currently the municipal finance director in Southbury.
