Fire Breaks Out Tuesday Near Ellington-Vernon Line

VERNON/ELLINGTON, CT — A fire broke out near the Vernon-Ellington line Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The fire was reported at about 1 p.m. at 16 Windermere Avenue in Vernon, a private home, police said.

Vernon firefighters were first on the scene and they were quickly joined by a crew from Ellington, according to Tolland county 911.

The fire was on a second-floor porch according to police. Police said the fire seemed under control quickly.

Windermere Avenue travels from Route 83 in Vernon near the Rockville CVS through Ellington.
