Fire, Crash Keep Responders Busy in Ellington, Somers
Police and firefighters were busy on Memorial day after a barn caught fire in Ellington and a road was closed in Somers after a crash.

ELLINGTON/SOMERS, CT — Police and firefighters were busy on Memorial day after a barn caught fire in Ellington and a road was closed in Somers after a crash, authorities said.
The fire broke out at 3:33 p.m. on Sadds Mill Road in Ellington, according to Tolland County 911. In addition to Ellington firefighters, crews from the Crystal Lake, Somers, Vernon and Broad Brook departments responded.
Tolland county 911 reported that it was large barn with an active fire on second floor.

In Somers, a vehicle hit a utility pole in the 300 block of Springfield Road, the local name for state Route 83, at about 8:45 p.m. according to Tolland county 911.
The road was closed whole a crew from Eversource Energy was at the scene.
