Fire Damages Barn in Somers

SOMERS, CT — A barn on Billings Road sustained heavy fire damage late Wednesday night.

At 11:39 p.m., the Somers Fire Department, with mutual aid from both Hazardville and Shaker Pines, were dispatched to a structure fire. Tolland County Dispatch reported a passerby saw fire in a building behind a home.

Additional assistance was received from the Ellington, Tolland, Hampden and Broad Brook fire departments.

Crews extinguished the bulk of the fire at approximately 12:28 a.m. and performed overhaul for several hours. The scene was turned over to the Fire Marshal at 2:56 a.m.

There were no reported injuries.
