Former Ellington Mayor 1 Of 4 In Party Seeking Vacant Senate Seat

A former Ellington First Selectmanis one of four Democrats seeking a vacant state Senate seat.

ELLINGTON, CT — Former Ellington First Selectman Dennis Milanovich is one of four Democrats seeking the party nomination for the vacant state Senate seat in the 3rd District.

The seat was vacated by veteran legislator Timothy Larson. The Democrat from East Hartford won the election, but decided to instead accept an appointment to join Gov. Ned Lamont's administration.

The 3rd Senatorial District includes East Hartford, East Windsor, Ellington, and South Windsor.

Here is the slate:

  • Milanovich, an Ellington resident who currently serves as the building inspector and town engineer in Stafford.
  • South Windsor Mayor M. Saud Anwar
  • East Hartford Board of Education member Tyron Harris
  • East Hartford lawyer Don Bell

Milanovich was Ellington’s first selectman from 2003 to 2005. When he won that first term, it snapped a three-decade streak of Republican dominance.

A district party nominating convention is slated for Monday, Jan. 21, at 6 p.m. at Lena’s Restaurant, located at 655 John Fitch Boulevard in South Windsor.
