Free Income Tax Services Offered in Ellington

ELLINGTON, CT — The Ellington Human Services Department has begun making volunteer income tax assistance appointments for those who would like their taxes done for free.

Applicants must make less than $54,000 a year to be eligible.

Those interested can 860-870-3128 to schedule an appointment or for more information.

Applicants must provide the following information (if applicable): an official photo ID, Social Security cards for each persons listed on a tax return, birth dates for each persons on a return, a 2016 tax return, income and wage information for all persons on return (1099, W2’s, etc.), form 1095-A (ACA), form 1098 (mortgage interest, property taxes), Form 1098-T or 1098- E, child or dependent care expenses including name, address and tax ID # (or SS or ITIN) of provider, bank routing and account number for direct deposit and any other pertinent documents or papers.

Married couples must both be present to sign return. All VITA tax preparers are trained and certified in tax law by the IRS.
