Full Moon Paddle Saturday in Somersville
The free paddle will begin at 7:15 p.m. at Mill Pond.

The public is invited to the annual Full Moon Paddle on the Scantic River on Saturday, Aug. 29.
The event, for those with canoes and kayaks, kicks off at Somers Mill Pond, located on School Street off Route 190 in the Somersville section. It is sponsored by the Scantic River Watershed Association.
Registration for the paddle will begin at 6 p.m. The event will start around 7:15 p.m., as the sun will set at approximately 7:45 p.m. that night.

This paddle is open to the general public and there is no fee involved. The Scantic River Watershed Association is asking all participants to donate a nonperishable food item to benefit area food pantries.
All participants must supply their own canoe or kayak, paddles, personal flotation devices, and flashlights. Glow sticks will be provided while supplies last

The paddle will be a leisurely trip up through the Mill Pond area and into a short section of the Scantic River above the Route 190 bridge, then back to the dam area at the Mill Pond under the Sturgeon Moon.
