Great June Line Up Of Events At The Ellington Farmers' Market
Dog Day, Modern Farming Day, Strawberry Festival and Artist at the Market plus new produce weekly and live music highlight June markets.

June is a great month to visit the Ellington Farmers’ market which is held Saturday mornings from 9 am to noon in Abor Park, Main St. Additional varieties of local produce start to arrive every week and some of the market’s most popular themes take place. On June 4th Oakridge dairy, New England’s largest dairy farm, will be bringing their “Monster Tractor” that practically drives itself for kids to climb aboard. Learn about Oakridge's soon-to-be-completed digester that will significantly reduce the farm’s carbon footprint and produce renewable energy. June 11th brings puppies and dogs available for adoption to the market from several dog rescue groups. Be prepared, it will be hard not to bring one of these cuties home! The Strawberry Festival, where you can enjoy a fresh strawberry shortcake from LuAnn’s Bakery, will be held on June 18th. The month concludes with Artists at the Market on June 25th.
The Kids Power of Produce Club, beginning June 11th, empowers children to make healthy food choices. Children can participate in a free weekly activity and receive a two-dollar token to purchase fresh produce. This program is made possible through the generous donations of local businesses and individuals.
The market has several programs to help ensure food security for low-income families, seniors, and women receiving WIC benefits. The market matches SNAP up to $20 per week per EBT card. Simply bring your EBT card to the market booth where you will be given tokens to shop. The market will also be matching the Farmers Market Senior and WIC Nutrition Program vouchers distributed by the CT. Department of Agriculture beginning in early July.
