Hearing Impaired Somers Woman Claims Discrimination Against Macy's
WFSB reports that Bernadette Balletti, who is deaf, was told that she could only replace or activate her Macy's card over the phone.

A hearing impaired woman from Somers says she’s been discriminated by Macy’s, according to WFSB 3.
WFSB reports that Bernadette Balletti has been a loyal customer at Macy’s for years but has been told on multiple occasions that she needed to speak with a representative over the phone to either replace or activate her Macy’s card, something that she is unable to do.
Balletti lost her purse in May and had to cancel all of her credit cards and was able to do so for all of them, except at Macy’s, according to WFSB.

WFSB reports that Macy’s reportedly wouldn’t make an exception because Balletti is deaf and she had her husband call on her behalf but that didn’t work either because the representatives insisted on speaking with Balletti herself.
Balletti eventually decided to let it go, but when she found her purse with the deactivated card in it, she went to Macy’s to have it reactivated but was again refused for the same reason, according to WFSB.
