How Ellington, Somers Schools Fared In New CT Ranking

ELLINGTON-SOMERS, CT — Ellington Public Schools landed among Connecticut’s top 50 school districts in a new ranking from Niche, while neighboring Somers finished at No. 70.

Ellington ranked No. 37 statewide and received an A-minus overall grade in the education website’s 2027 Best School Districts rankings. Somers earned a B overall grade.

Somers also ranked No. 39 in Connecticut on Niche’s separate list of the best school districts for athletes and No. 9 among school districts in the Springfield area.

Niche released the rankings Sept. 28. The ratings draw on school statistics, federal and state data, and reviews from students, parents and teachers. Factors include academics, graduation rates, college readiness and teacher quality.

For the 2027 rankings, Niche updated its public school assessment data to use state sources rather than federal sources, which the company said provides more current measures of academic performance.

Westport took the top spot in Connecticut, followed by Greenwich, New Canaan, Ridgefield and Darien.
