Initial Report Released On Crash that Killed Ellington Teen
Ellington High School was open to counseling on Monday.

ELLINGTON, CT — A preliminary report indicates that a compact car in which an Ellington High School student was a passenger collided with a pickup truck in the crash that took her life Saturday night. Meanwhile, EHS was open today with a counselor on hand to aide a grieving community.
Plainville police issued a preliminary report on the crash Monday. On Saturday at 11:05 p.m., multiple 911 callers reported a serious two-car motor vehicle collision on East Street at the intersection with Town Line Road in Plainville, according to the report. East Street is the local name for state Route 10.
Police said that a 2002 Dodge Dakota pickup that had been traveling north on East Street had collided with the passenger side of a 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit that had been traveling east on Town Line Road when it entered the intersection.

As a result of the accident, several people in both vehicles sustained serious injuries and were transported to area hospitals for treatment, according to a report.
One of the passengers, 17-year-old Ellington resident Olivia Wentworth, died as result of her injuries, according to a report.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, police said Monday. Any witnesses are being urged to contact Officer Mark Kominske or Detective Jamie Fenn at 860-747-1616.
Ellington High School had guidance staff members on hand on Monday.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family with funeral expenses. So far the goal of $10,000 has been exceeded by pledges totaling $12,720. The account can be accessed here.
