A Letter from the Ellington Volunteer Fire Department
The Carnival is coming to Brookside Park Sept. 10-12.

To All Ellington Residents:
We are a 100% volunteer organization providing fire protection and rescue services to the community. This year we are celebrating our 87th anniversary of helping our community at times of disaster and need. Last year our volunteers responded to over 750 emergency calls and donated over 4,500 hours for emergency duty, public fire prevention education, training and maintenance of the fire apparatus and fire station.
The fire department’s annual fund raising effort, “The Fireman’s Fair” has been a tradition for over eighty years and helps to sustains the volunteer character of the organization that provides these emergency fire and rescue services. The Carnival, as it has come to be known, is being held at Brookside Park on Route 140, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, September 10th, 11th and 12th, 2015. It features amusement rides for adults and children, games of skill and games of chance with merchandise and cash prizes, food, a raffle and a large parade on Saturday, September 12th at 5:15 P.M.
The raffle will award ten prizes. First Prize: 2015 Jeep Patriot, Second Prize: $600 gift certificate redeemable at Superior Energy, Third Prize: $550 gift certificate redeemable at Homestead Fuel, Fourth Prize: $500 gift certificate redeemable at Kloter Farms, Fifth Prize: $400 gift certificate redeemable at Ellington Agway, Sixth Prize: $325 gift certificate to Preferred Propane, Seventh Prize: $225 gift certificate redeemable at Executive Lawn Service, Eighth Prize: $175 gift certificate redeemable at Star Hardware, Ninth Prize: $125 gift certificate redeemable at Lee’s Auto Ranch, Tenth Prize: $100 gift certificate redeemable at Chuck Wagon Restaurant. There are only 1,300 tickets offered for $20 each. Tickets are available from any Ellington Firefighter.
The Ellington Volunteer Fire Department deeply appreciates the overwhelming support you have shown us over the past eighty-five plus years. This annual fund raising event supports the volunteer fire department’s activities throughout the coming year that are not supported within the Town’s Budget. With the support received in the past we have been able to purchase specialized rescue equipment, protective clothing, uniforms, and support our training and education programs for the public and our firefighters. Our goal this year is to continue to support these programs, as well as continuing to raise funds for a memorial park and continuing to support other community activities like Little League, Substance Free/Safe Graduation Party, Safety Town and all of our other Public Fire Prevention and Safety Education programs.
Each year we call upon every homeowner to support our fundraiser. We are asking you to help us by baking a cake or pastry item to be used as a prize in our cake booth, a perennial favorite and traditionally one of the most popular carnival attractions. We need cakes/pastry items for each of the three nights, Sept. 10th, 11th & 12th. On the 10th and 11th the cake booth opens at 6:30 P.M. On Saturday the 12th it will open following the parade.
Corporate booth sponsorships are also available. For more information about corporate sponsorships contact a Chief Officer or the Carnival Chairperson, at our routine business number or at www.ellingtonfire.org.
100% of all funds raised benefit The Ellington Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.
We constantly strive to provide the highest level of service to our community. We thank you for your continued support and respect.
Respectfully,
Betsi Feldman, Chairperson
