LETTER: Some Facts About State Representative Jaime Foster

ELLINGTON-EAST WINDSOR-VERNON, CT β Recently, voters received a letter from the Republican candidate for state representative in the 57th district, David Stavens. In it, he made unsupportable claims against the current representative, Jaime Foster, implying that she had done nothing to stop the recent increase in crime in our state. His letter ignores the facts.
Jaime passed a bill to protect Ellington police by securing $23,840 for new police dash and body cams. Jaime co-sponsored a bill to fight juvenile and other crimes, by toughening penalties for vehicle thefts, funding state and local task forces to address gun violence and auto thefts and investing in services designed to prevent repeat youth offenders, recommendations specifically requested by our local police officers. She has endorsements from the CT police association and the state police union.
Jaime listens to her constituents to hear their issues, and what is needed to solve them, then works to see these enacted, making sure our district gets its fair share from the state. We donβt need a candidate who lists priorities, leaving out specifics and solutions. Jaime will continue to pass bills to decrease crime, support first responders, promote our farmers, aid those with crumbling foundations, and protect senior citizens.
