LETTER: Somers First Selectman Asks For Your Vote
Letters are strictly the opinion of the author, and do not necessarily reflect the views of Ellington-Somers Patch.

My name is Lisa Pellegrini and Iβm respectfully asking for your vote on November 3rd. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as Somersβ First Selectman during the last six years and with your vote I hope to be able to continue to work hard for you in the future.
I am running because I believe in the Town of Somers and in the people that live and work here. I adore my staff and am awed by the talent and determination that they possess. I am inspired by the passion and commitment from our volunteers and board and commissioner members and am energized by the ideas, plans and vision from my fellow Selectmen Kathy Devlin and Bud Knorr.
Together we have accomplished so much. We are the envy of so many towns due to our low taxes and quality of life. By working together Somers has a stable government that concentrates its time and energy on improving the quality of life for our residents, not on playing party politics or creating barriers and obstructions that diminish creativity.

Together we have survived catastrophic storms, obtained Camp Ayapo, achieved in garnering almost $7 million in grants, transformed our fire vehicle fleet, increased police protection, and developed a comprehensive road maintenance program. We have improved our parks and recreation programs, supported and increased programs for Seniors and initiated social services that help residents when they need it the most. Together, we are now working on a plan to clean up the Somersville Mill site. Without tax increases we have created an atmosphere of responsive government that works with and for residents.
I am running because there is still a lot to do and as the State of Connecticut enters such a critical stage of looming budget deficits I want Somers to be part of the solution. I want Somers to have a voice at the state level and I want Somers to be a leader at the regional level. We are on the right course for the future. Please vote November 3rd.
