LETTER: Support Keeping Lisa Pellegrini as Somers First Selectman
Letters are strictly the opinion of the author, and do not necessarily reflect the views of Ellington-Somers Patch.

To listen to those who wish to be the First Selectman in Somers, you would think nothing is right about our town. Yet most of us clearly know that Somers is a great place to live. With Lisa Pellegrini as our First Selectman, our town rightfully boasts of its excellent school system; our open spaces, recently added to with the town’s purchase of Camp Aya Po; our road maintenance program; the new fire equipment and soon an even better department with a fulltime Fire Chief; our Somers Police Department, so successful in capturing those vandals who dare to walk our streets at night; our well maintained, solar-powered public buildings; our parks, playgrounds, soccer, baseball and lacrosse fields, basketball and tennis courts; a sustainable pension plan for our town employees, a successful record of obtaining federal and state grants, a positive working relationship with our state and federally elected officials, and many other clearly positive traits, all the result of Pellegrini’s hard work, business experience, and professionalism.
So, Somers voters – keep Pellegrini as First Selectman. She has proven what she can do – and it is all for the better. She wants to clean up the Somerville Mill site, establish a riverside park, and put the remaining Mill property back on the tax roles as a viable entity; continue a school resource officer as part of our school system’s safety effort; continue our fiscal stability and low taxes while keeping our town government properly sized -- she has built a team of town officials, town volunteers, and town staff that has proven over and over to be effective and efficient in dealing with town affairs. With her vision, a plan, and this team, it is clear that Pellegrini is still “the better way.”
Recently, the Somers Republicans spoke clearly in a primary – Pellegrini won their resounding support. The Somers Democrats and most unaffiliated voters agree, recognizing and acknowledging the excellent job Pellegrini does as our First Selectman.

But the choice this November 3rd is yours.
Will we go from a quiet, bucolic town led by a lady with a vision, a plan to achieve this vision, and the proven ability to succeed in meeting this vision? Or do we vote for those with their negative perspectives, unknown values, and unstated solutions? Who will lead our $31 million organization?

Stay the course with Lisa Pellegrini. Let’s keep Somers as the Somers we know.
