Local Businesses Help To Build A Healthy Community
The Market Partner Program of the Ellington Farmers Market helps with food security, health education, and community building.
Through the Market Partner program, local businesses are helping the Ellington Farmers' Market's mission to build a healthy community. Last year saw a record increase in participation in the Farmer Market Nutrition voucher and SNAP doubling programs. Seniors and families in need sought out food assistance at the market at an incredible 50% increase over 2021. This program combined with the Kids Power of Produce Club distributed over $32,000 worth of healthy, fresh, locally grown and produced food in 2022 alone.
In addition to helping combat food insecurity, the market is a lifeline for small local farms and cottage industry food producers and provides a place for the community to be together in person each Saturday morning. Children are empowered to make healthy food choices through the Kids Power of Produce Club and family-friendly themes and activities are enjoyed weekly.
Ellington Farmers' Market is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Information for businesses or individuals seeking to become a market partner can be found on the market website.
