Man Accused of Assault While Inmate at Northern

SOMERS, CT — A Newtown man is facing two counts of assaulting a public safety officer while he was an inmate at Northern Correctional Institution, state police said.

Jonathan Blair, 26, was arrested via a warrant on Friday, according to police records. The guards he allegedly assaulted are 29 and 29, according to an arrest report.

A man with the same name and birth year shows up on the state judicial system website as being at the tail end of a sixth-month assault sentence.

He remains in custody on a $50,000 bond and is due back in court on June 30, judicial system records indicate.
