Man Accused of Sending Lewd Picture to a 13-year-Old in Somers

A man had been charged for allegedly sending a lewd picture to a child by mistake.

SOMERS, CT — A 42-year-old man has been charged with risk of injury to a child and disorderly conduct for allegedly sending a lewd picture of himself to a 13-year-old, something he said was done by mistake, an arrest report indicates.

Daniel Fortin, of Enfield, was arrested on Thursday the March 24 incident, state police said. He claimed the picture was supposed to be sent to an adult.

That day, a woman from Somers complained to sate police that her daughter received an Instagram photo of a man's private parts on her phone, according to a warrant. She said it was from a distant relative, Fortin, according to a warrant.

The image was traced to Fortin, who said he apologized.

State police applied for an arrest warrant after investigating the claims. Fortin has been arrested 11 times in the past for crimes ranging from assault to larceny and public indecency, according to a warrant.
