The suspect attempted to break into three homes early Thursday morning, and is thought be involved in other burglaries dating back to 2014.

A young man was arrested early Thursday morning after allegedly attempting to burglarize several homes in Somers, state police said.
Brett Vincent, 20, of no certain address, was charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, sixth-degree larceny and interfering with an officer. He was held on $100,000 bond.
While being processed at Troop C in Tolland, he was also charged on a warrant with criminal attempt to commit first-degree burglary, stemming from a July 28, 2014 incident in Somers.

According to a police report, troopers received notice of an active burglary at a home on Rye Hill Circle at 2:39 a.m. Thursday. While en route, police were informed a suspicious male matching the description they had been given had just approached a house on White Birch Circle, seeking money.
Troopers proceeded to White Birch Circle, and a canine team initiated a track. During this proceeding, notification of a third break-in was issued from a home on Wrights Brook Road, saying the suspect had gained entry, the report said.

A second canine unit was dispatched to Wrights Brook Road, and quickly found the suspect, later identified as Vincent, in a rear yard attempting to evade arrest. After failing to comply with police orders, Vincent was subdued by a canine unit, the report said.
The 2014 incident involved a home on Therese Drive whose owner heard glass breaking and discovered a window in the mud room had been smashed and the window opened. Entry into the home was not gained in that case, the report said.
Police were able to lift three partial fingerprints from the window and frame, and a crime lab subsequently determined those belonged to Vincent, according to the report.
At the time, the last known address for Vincent was in Enfield, and police from that town considered him a suspect in a series of car burglaries there. He is also suspected of car burglaries on Highland View Drive in early October of this year, the report said.
