Man and His Car Wind Up in Somers Backyard: Cops

He was parked in a backyard for several minutes, police said.

SOMERS, CT – An unlicensed driver who was drunk wound up parked in someone's backyard after an incident on state Route 190, state police said.

And it all happened in front of a trooper, according to an arrest report.

At 10:42 p.m., a trooper stationed on Route 190 observed a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Ralph Starkey, of West Springfield, cross the road near Sonny's Place and travel into a residential front yard, according to an arrest report. Starkey then parked in the backyard of the residence for several minutes, according to an arrest report.

He was apprehended trying to exit the yard, according to an arrest report.

Starkey was charged with driving under the influence, driving without a license and a lane violation., according to an arrest report. He appeared in court once already and had his case continued to Aug. 9, court records indicate.
