Fire Crews From Multiple Towns Battle Barn Blaze

ELLINGTON, CT — A Friday afternoon barn fire forced the closure of a well-traveled Ellington road as multiple agencies rushed in to contain the flames.

Meadow Brook Road was shut down at Hoffman Road and Industrial Drive after fire broke out at a barn at 85 Meadow Brook Road around 2:37 p.m., according to the Town of Ellington.

Ellington police and firefighters responded to the scene and found the structure engulfed, prompting a full road closure while crews worked to bring the blaze under control. No injuries were reported.

Neighboring fire departments were called in to assist the Ellington Volunteer Fire Department (CT), and the Connecticut State Police – Ellington Resident Trooper’s Office also responded.

Officials urged motorists to avoid the area as suppression efforts continued. It was not immediately clear what caused the fire or how long the road closure would remain in effect.
