More Great College Feats By Ellington, Somers Students: Spring 2023

ELLINGTON-SOMERS, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire. More great feats will be noted in the coming weeks.

Castleton University, Castleton VT

• Benjamin Thompson of Somers graduated with a Bachelor of Science in marketing from Castleton University following the successful completion of the spring semester in May 2023. Castleton University celebrated the accomplishments of members of the Class of 2023 at its 236th Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 13.

Clark University, Worcester MA

• Emma N. Cheyney of Somers was named to second honors on the Clark University Dean's List. This selection marks outstanding academic achievement during the spring 2023 semester.
  Students must have a GPA of 3.8 or above for first honors or a GPA between 3.50 and 3.79 for second honors.

College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee MA

• The College of Our Lady of the Elms has named the following local students to the dean's list for the spring 2023 semester: Sydney Kennison, Thomas Kennison and Melissa Bowerman, all of Somers, and James Maznicki of Ellington. To qualify, a full-time student must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher, without incompletes.

Emerson College, Boston MA

• Emerson College awarded approximately 1,058 undergraduate degrees during the 143nd Commencement at Agganis Arena in Boston on Sunday, May 14, 2023. Katelin Berube of Ellington received a BA in writing, lit and publishing.
• Ashley Maningas of Ellington made the Dean's List for the spring 2023 semester. She is majoring in marketing communication and is a member of Emerson College's Class of 2026.
  The requirement to make Dean's List at Emerson College is a grade point average of 3.7 or higher for that semester.

Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta GA

• Daniel Johnson of Ellington made the Dean's List for the spring 2023 semester at the Georgia Institute of Technology. This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have earned a 3.0 or higher academic average for the semester.

Hudson Valley Community College, Troy NY

• Kyle Brown of Ellington was named to the spring 2023 President's List at Hudson Valley Community College. Brown is studying in the non-matriculated academic program at the Troy, NY college. Each fall and spring term, the college's President's List names those full-time students and part-time students registered for at least six college credits who have a term average of between 3.5 and 4.0 and who received no grade of "D," "F," "I," "Z," or "W" on their record for that term. Students must have completed at least 12 college credits successfully.

Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester NY

• Three students from Ellington were named to the Dean's List at Rochester Institute of Technology for the spring semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. They are Bailey O'Brien, who is in the ASL-English interpretation program; Nathan Caron, who is in the game design and development program; and Rachel McLean, who is in the mechanical engineering program. Full-time degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for Dean's List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of "Incomplete", "D" or "F"; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.

Roger Williams University, Bristol RI

• Select students have been named to the spring 2023 Dean's List at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester. Honorees from Somers are Kaitlyn Savage and Sarah Smithline.

Springfield Technical Community College, Springfield MA

• Wade Luginbuhl of Ellington has been named to the spring 2023 dean's list, which is published each semester to recognize excellence in academic performance. To be considered, degree-seeking students must earn 12 or more college level credits in the current semester, or a total of 12 or more combined college-level credits earned during the fall and spring semesters, and achieve a 3.3 or above grade point average.

University of Tampa, Tampa FL

• The University of Tampa hosted a commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 6, to honor the 1,525 degree-seeking candidates at the University's 156th commencement. Annalisse Robbins of Ellington graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in advertising and public relations, and Steven Downs of Ellington graduated with a Bachelor of Science in actuarial science.
• Annalisse Robbins, of Ellington, earned dean's list honors at the University of Tampa for the spring 2023 semester. Robbins is a senior majoring in advertising and public relations. Students must maintain a GPA of 3.75 or higher to be eligible for the dean's list.
