New Date Set For Ellington Penguin Plunge At Crystal Lake
Organizers called off the original date due to conditions but have announced a new time and date for participants.
ELLINGTON, CT — After an earlier attempt this season was canceled, the Penguin Plunge at Crystal Lake is back on the calendar with a new date.
The Ellington event benefits Special Olympics Connecticut and is hosted by the Ellington Police Department along with Ellington Resident State Troopers.
Organizers were forced to cancel the originally scheduled plunge this year due to conditions, but the event has now been rescheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2026.

Registration begins at 10:30 a.m., with participants entering the water at 11:30 a.m. at Crystal Lake in Ellington.
Funds raised support year-round sports training and competition opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities across Connecticut. Residents can register at soct.org/plunge
