New Location Almost Ready For Longtime Restaurant In Ellington
A restaurant in Ellington that has been around for three decades is almost ready to move to a new location.

ELLINGTON, CT — After 35-plus years in business as a go-to culinary spot in Ellington, Holiday Restaurant is almost ready to open at a new location.
Holiday will remain at its current 12 Main St. spot until sometime next month and then move down Route 83 to No. 117 West Road, owner Billy Saxon told Patch in conversations last week and this week.
Holiday opened up in 1988. It is known for pizza and dinners that include heaping portions of dishes like chicken Alfredo and eggplant rollatini, along with soups and chowders.

Saxon purchased the property about three years ago after it was vacated by the DaVinci pizza restaurant. He said work had been steady to convert the place to Holiday, but things have been slow because Saxon has been forced to do most of the work himself amid the coronavirus pandemic and supply issues.
He said that a grand opening will likely be scheduled next month and a formal announcement is expected soon.

Holiday will remain with a liquor permit and feature about 20 dine-in tables in addition to its busy takeout and delivery service.
Saxon has been operating without table service since the breakout of the pandemic, but added he was eager to bring it back.
Until the move, Holiday will be closed Mondays and open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sundays from 2 to 8 p.m. Saxon said a seven-day schedule will return at the new location.
