October In Ellington: Fall Fun, Festivals & More

Fall is officially here in Ellington, and there’s no shortage of ways to make the most of it. From festivals and farmers markets to pumpkin patches, live music and other seasonal fun, October brings plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy what’s happening close to home.

Here are some events and activities happening in and around Ellington this October.

Johnny Appleseed’s Farm

When: Daily throughout October
Where: Johnny Appleseed’s Farm | 185 West Road, Ellington

Make the most of apple and pumpkin season with a trip to Johnny Appleseed’s Farm in Ellington, where visitors can pick their own fruit and explore a corn maze. Tractor rides to the picking fields are offered on weekends, and children of all ages are welcome. Admission is free, though activities cost extra, and picking fields are open weather permitting.

Ellington Farmers Market

When: Saturdays in October, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Where: Market Park | 72 Maple Street, Ellington

Stock up on local finds before the season wraps up at the Ellington Farmers Market, held Saturdays through Oct. 31 at Market Park. Along with fresh, locally produced goods, shoppers can find weekly themes, live music, guest vendors and activities for kids. The market runs from 9 a.m. to noon and accepts SNAP and FMNP benefits.

Harvest Fest Weekend

When: Oct. 9-11, 2026
Where: Worthington Vineyards & Winery | 359 Mountain Road, Somers

Celebrate Harvest Fest Weekend with a behind-the-scenes look at winemaking, complete with grape crushing, a grape-stomping photo opportunity and tractor wagon rides around the property. Visitors can enjoy wine and live music from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, while those interested in helping with the harvest can email the winery about volunteer grape-picking opportunities. Weekend hours vary by day, and the winery will close early at 5 p.m. Saturday for a private event.

Trunk Or Treat

When: Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026, 12 to 4 p.m.
Where: Sonny’s Place | 349 Main Street, CT-190, Somers

Costumes are highly encouraged for Sonny’s Place’s free Trunk or Treat, where families can walk among decorated vehicles and collect Halloween goodies. Participating trunks and vendors include USA Hauling, Anjalicia’s Sweets and Thunderbirds, with more expected to be announced. Those who want to join the fun on the other side of the candy bowl can also register to decorate a vehicle and hand out treats.

EYS Unified Halloween Party Fall 2026

When: Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Where: Ellington Senior Center | 40 Maple Street, Ellington

Halloween fun is for everyone at the EYS Unified Halloween Party, an inclusive celebration designed for ages 5 to 22 and participants of all abilities. Guests can enjoy Halloween-themed games, crafts, music, dancing, treats, a costume parade and sensory-friendly and adapted activities. Admission is $5, and adults must stay with their children.
