Official: Friday Night Storm Produces 'Mini Tornado' in Ellington

The storm moved in and out quickly Friday night

ELLINGTON, CT — The storm that moved through the area on Friday night produced some rain, some thunder and some lightning.

It knocked down trees and wires in Tolland.

And a tornado formed in Ellington?

That is the way one emergency official described it. He called it a 'mini tornado' in a Facebook post and it made its way along Jobs Hill Road, he said.

The storm resulted in some tree and property damage in town, according to residents and the fire official.

Rebecca Einsiedel captured a picture of a tree that landed on a vehicle on Frog Hollow Road.

Jodi Fontanella Hoekstra snapped a picture while stopped in front of the downed tree in Ellington.

Tolland fire officials said a tree fell on a house on Shenipsit Lake Road, but no one was injured.

Trees and wire were also down on Apple Road, Gehring Road and Glenn View Terrace, Tolland officials said.
