Once Upon a Mattress is Coming to Somers!

The Princess and the Pea junior, Community theater, non-profit, kids theater, family, family-friendly, summer program, free participation

Standing Room Only Productions (SRO) is hard at work putting together their production of ONCE UPON A MATTRESS (Kids Version) with music by Mary Rodgers and Lyrics by Marshall Barer. This show is based on the story of The Princess and the Pea. It will take place at Somers High School at 5 Vision Blvd in Somers, CT on Friday August 11 at 7:00 PM and Saturday August 12 at 2 PM and again at 7:00 PM. It will be a live stage production in an air-conditioned venue come rain or shine. It is sure to please the entire family!

An Info/Audition Prep Meeting will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Kibbe-Fuller Community Center, 619 Main St, Somers, CT at 7 PM. There will be a 20 minute Meet & Greet where the project will be discussed and audition pointers will be shared. Auditions are open for folks aged 8 through 108! The rest of the evening will be spent learning the songs and a dance routine that will be needed for Auditions.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2016 at Kibbe-Fuller Community Center, 619 Main St, Somers, CT. Folks aged 8 – 12 should come from 1 PM to 3 PM. Folks aged 13 through 108 should come at 3:30 and plan on staying until 5:30 PM. Audition Forms can be found on our website.

Auditions will only be heard for the materials provided at the Info/Audition Prep Meeting on 5/16/2017. All folks auditioning will need to sing a song that was taught; those auditioning for lead and supporting roles will be required to sing solo; those auditioning for ensemble roles will sing in groups. Additionally all folks auditioning will need to demonstrate the dance routine that was taught and will need to read from the script that will be provided. For folks who cannot make the 5/16 meeting, the materials shared that evening will be posted on our website on 5/17 to learn before Saturday.

SRO is a non-profit Youth & Family Community Theatre organization that was formed in November, 2014. Kathy Welch is Producer/Artistic Director; George M. Murphy is Musical Director; Sarah Renzoni is Stage Manager; Kate DaSilva with Olivia Sears and Tory Hatcher will be doing Choreography.
