Picture Ellington - Then And Now
An old photograph and brief story from Ellington's past, and how that site appears today.

ELLINGTON, CT — This periodic informal series highlights commercial spots from Ellington's past, and what those locations look like today. Today's offering is a tad different, as the photo is only about 10 years old; however, the growth of the Ellington Senior Center has been staggering over the past decade.
Housed for 17 years in a 3,700 square foot space in a small strip plaza on Church Street, the old Senior Center became obsolete with the rapid expansion of programs and usage. In 2012, Ellington voters approved $2.5 million, and another $400,000 the following year, to build a state-of-the-art Senior Center a quarter mile down the road at 40 Maple Street.
Nearly triple the size of its predecessor, the new stand-alone facility, directly across the street from Ellington High School, opened in 2014.
