Picture Ellington - Then And Now
An old photograph and brief story from Ellington's past, and how that site appears today.

ELLINGTON, CT — This periodic informal series highlights buildings and places from Ellington's past, and what those locations look like today. Today's offering is unique in that the pictured structure existed in another town for 65 years before being moved to the heart of Ellington.
According to Images of America: Ellington, from the Ellington Historical Society:
"The Ellington Inn was built in Rockville in 1843. After a fire destroyed the Franklin House owned by Edward O'Neil on Maple Street, this building was moved in 1908 from Rockville to the site in Ellington where it remains. It was operated as a hotel for a number of years before being rented as a dwelling and then converted to apartments after it was sold by the O'Neil heirs in 1937."
The building at 113 Maple Street is currently a private residence. Here is a more contemporary look at the property, courtesy of Google Maps.
