Picture Ellington - Then And Now
An old photograph and brief story from Ellington's past, and how that site appears today.

ELLINGTON, CT — It's time for another journey back in time, as we return to a fascinating picture book entitled Images of America: Ellington. The book, compiled by Lynn Kloter Fahy for the Ellington Historical Society, was first published in 2005, and contains 128 pages of amazing photos and stories of the small town formerly known as "the Great Marsh." It may be purchased from the Nellie McKnight Museum store here.
On page 56 is a Colonial Revival bungalow built two centuries ago, in 1820, at 58 Maple Street. The undated photo suggests a John Deere must have been on the family's Christmas wish list, but in all seriousness, save for removal of one doorway, the exterior of the home is pretty much intact today.
Here is a more contemporary look at the site, courtesy of Google Maps.
