SOMERS, CT — Our periodic look at Somers history brings us back to the amazing photo book, Images of America: Somers, compiled in 2001 by Jeanne Kenyon DeBell for the Somers Historical Society. On page 20 is an undated photo of a house at 635 Main Street.

According to Somers property records, the 2,526 square-foot structure was built in 1813. John Hunt, a local postal carrier, owned the house at one time. He used a horse and buggy to deliver mail for many years.

The building, situated between a small strip plaza and Webster Bank, currently houses the Bra Ladies Boutique and a pair of apartments. Its roof sustained some damage during last month's tornado.
