Police: Alleged Drunken Driver Found in Store Lot

He was charged with DUI, police said.

A Vernon man was found by police drunk in his car in the Rockville Stop & Shop Parking lot over the weekend, an arrest report indicates. 

Police said he is facing a driving under the influence charge as a result. 

Officers were sent on a welfare check call on Friday at 6:44 p.m. after being alerted to a possible drunken driver at the Windsorville Road store, a report indicates. Police investigated the scene and found that David Morrissette, a 69-year-old resident of 55 Grove St., was allegedly operating the car while intoxicated in the parking lot, according to a report. 

Morrisette was arrested, booked and released on a $500 bond, police said. He is due in court on Nov. 12.
