Police Cite Driver, Not Jaywalking Raccoon in Ellington Crash

The crash was on Windsorville Road, police said.

ELLINGTON, CT — Police blamed a recent car crash on a raccoon jaywalking in broad daylight.

At 9:12 a.m. on Feb. 28, 201o Toyota Prius was traveling west on Windsorville Road when a raccoon wandered into the road a police report indicates.

The car swerved to avoid the jaywalking animal and crashed into a post and guardrail, according to a police report.

The driver was cited for a restricted turn, police said.

The post was damaged, police said.
