Prison Inmate Charged After Pinching Nurse's Rear End: Warrant

A inmate is accused of pinching a nurse at a prison in Somers, a warrant states.

SOMERS, CT — An inmate at Osborn Correctional Institution is facing three criminal charges after he allegedly pinched the rear end of a nurse and then threatened her with a shooting gesture, state police said.

Edwin Ruiz, 32, was charged on Wednesday with first-degree assault on a Department of Corrections employee, fourth-degree sexual assault and second-degree threatening, according to a report.

The incident took place on Oct. 12, when Ruiz and a medical team were in the Osborn mental health office, a warrant states. On his way to getting weighed, he grabbed the nurse's rear end and then made a "shhhhh" sign with a finger over his lips, according to a warrant.

Later, when questioned about the incident by a physician, he made a gun sign with his hands and threatened the nurse with a shooting gesture, according to a warrant.

An Edwin Ruiz with a matching birth year shows up on the state judicial system website as being convicted of first-degree manslaughter in September 2015 and then being sentenced to 10 years in prison.
