Redistricting Adds A Third Voter District in Ellington

ELLINGTON, CT — As a result of the 2020 U.S. Census release and subsequent redistricting, there has been a third voter district added in the town of Ellington. The new Local District Three has reapportioned about 1,700 voters who will now be represented by the Seventh State Senate District.

These voters, residing on 36 streets in the commonly referred to section of Woodside Acres, will
continue to vote at Ellington High School but in a separate, clearly designated section of the
school. Voters have been individually informed of this change by letter.

The Connecticut Reapportionment Commission analysis of the population counts within the
Seventh State Senate District - serving the towns of Enfield, Somers, East Granby, Suffield,
Windsor Locks, East Granby, Somers and parts of Granby and Windsor - indicated a shortfall of
people represented by the Connecticut Seventh State Senate seat. This position is currently held
by Sen. John Kissel, who will be challenged by Cynthia Mangini in the general election on
Nov. 8.

This slice of Ellington voters was previously part of Local District One, represented by ConnecticutSenate District Three. Sen. Saud Anwar currently holds that position, and will face challenger
Matt Harper in November. This local district also votes at Ellington High School.
