Report: Somers High School Guidance Counselor Served Unpaid Suspension
The employee has spent 30 years in the school system.

Long-time Somers High School guidance counselor Steve Roberts served a 9 1/2 day unpaid suspension earlier this summer after he missed a planned meeting with a student and the student’s parents, and then lied about where he was, the Journal Inquirer reports through a Freedom of Information request.
Roberts, a 30-year employee, was supposed to meet with the student and the student’s parents on July 15 but didn’t show, and told school officials he was assisting with the delivery of water to the main office, the JI reports.
But security photos show Roberts left the high school prior to the scheduled meeting with the student. The unpaid suspension has since ended and Roberts has returned to work.
