Standoff Ends Peacefully in Ellington

A man was taken to a local hospital following an hours-long standoff situation in Ellington Thursday.

Emergency crews responded to Crane Road, but there were no evacuations, WFSB 3 reports. School buses avoided the area.

The man involved in the standoff was in possession of at least one firearm, the Hartford Courant reports.

His ex-girlfriend called police to check-in after him after he sent disturbing text messages. The call came in around 6 a.m. A SWAT team and other first responders moved into position.

The situation ended around noon with the man exiting the house and being taken to the hospital for evaluation, Fox CT reports.
