Routes 190, 83 Among Roads Drawing Extra Holiday Enforcement Attention

TOLLAND/VERNON — State police have scheduled two drunken driving checkpoints for two busy east of the river intersections for the holiday period.

They are:

• Dec. 23 at the Exit 68 interchange of Interstate-84 and state Route 195 with the breath alcohol testing mobile unit in use.
• Dec. 29 at the Exit 67 interchange with I-84 and state Route 31 with the breath alcohol testing mobile unit in use.

State police will also be conducting roving patrols along key routes in the area, including state routes 30, 32, 44, 74, 83, 190 and 195.

Both marked and unmarked cruisers will be in use, state police said. The roving patrols will be in effect through New Year's Day, state police said.
