Scarecrow Contest Returning To Ellington Town Green
The fifth annual display of scarecrows on the Ellington Town Green will begin Oct. 1.

ELLINGTON, CT — Autumn has officially arrived, and with it comes the return of an Ellington favorite: the fifth annual Scarecrow Contest.
Scarecrow displays will begin popping up on the town green beginning Friday, Oct. 1, and will remain throughout the month for residents to peruse and enjoy. Fan Favorite voting will take place online beginning Oct. 11, and entry forms can be found at Ellington Town Hall; the website has both an online option to enter and a PDF form available for download.
Past categories awarded for the Scarecrow Contest include Fan Favorite, where community members cast their votes for favorite displays; Judges’ Choice; Most Creative; Best in Design; Scariest; Funniest; and Best Business. The creativity displayed each year is fantastic to see; strolling through the green to see which new scarecrows have popped up overnight is always a highlight of the year.
