Scenes From the Harlem Rockets Comedy Basketball Game

The Ellington Rocket Stoppers put up a good fight, but fell in the end to the Harlem Rockets.

On Friday night, the Opening Knight Players of hosted the Harlem Rockets, a talented group of basketball entertainers.

The players, some of whom are former Harlem Globetrotters and former professional athletes, competed against the Ellington Rocket Stoppers, which was comprised of Ellington school teachers and administration.

The game featured audience interaction and lots of laughs, as the Harlem players taunted, teased and demonstrated their amazing – and tricky
– athleticism against the Rocket Stoppers. The final score was Harlem 106, and the home team 98, adding another win to Harlem’s 16-year history of no defeats.

Stealing the show for most of the evening was front man, James “Speedy” Williams, known as the Prince of Laughs. Williams has performed live with Jay Z at the MTV Music Awards and appeared in the movie Above the Rim, starring Tupac Shakur. Williams is also featured on the Playstation Street-Hoops game, The Crowned Prince of Laughs. Throughout the evening, Williams incorporated the audience, pulling children from the crowd for halftime laughs and in  between quarters, and also got the audience on their feet to dance.

Friday night’s full house raised money for the Opening Knight Players.
