Sleeping man Found With Loaded Guns in Somers: Report

Loaded guns were found in a vehicle over the weekend, state police said.

SOMERS, CT — A Stafford man was arrested on three gun charges after a Sunday morning traffic stop in Somers, state police said.

Troopers received reports of a suspicious vehicle traveling along Eagle Brook Drive in Somers at 8:31 a.m. on Sunday, according to an arrest report.

Trooper went to the area and found Sean Lopes, 26, of Stafford Street, Stafford, asleep in the driver's seat of a vehicle, according to an arrest report.

Troopers also found a loaded .22-cal. rifle and a loaded .45-cal handgun along with "numerous" rounds of ammunition and two illegal knives at the scene, according to an arrest report.

Lopes was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, possessing weapons in a motor vehicle and carrying a loaded gun in a vehicle, according to an arrest report.

He was to appear in court Monday, state police said.
